overlook
This custom residence is sited on a hill overlooking a North Shore inner harbor. The site is the former home of a high-school from one-hundred years ago. The large granite wall that borders the street and grand steps remain from the old school and informed the initial siting of the home. The home’s living spaces are on the upper level to allow for a commanding view over the Town. The “front entry” is on the rear of the home near the driveway. The owners call it the “upside down and backwards home.” The one-room deep layout allows all spaces to have a view and allows for a connected, open feel. Arriving at the top of the stairs one sees the incredible view through the 20 feet of glass at the edge of the kitchen. A covered porch and wrap-around deck allow for endless entertaining possibilities. The private spaces are on the lower level which step out to a landscaped oasis that is elevated above the street and private. The roof deck provides a seasonal peak at the ocean beyond.
