FRENCH COUNTRY Estate
Guided by the inherited symmetry and the homeowner’s vision for a French country home, the home was designed respecting the site’s history but with a contemporary flare. The result nods to the extravagance of its previous occupant, an Italian Renaissance mansion. A cut stone frontispiece with its interpretive voussoir and large, glossy, black, center knob lead into the foyer. Upon entry you will find a groin vault ceiling and paneled, arched openings that are all organized by the hierarchical axes that work in concert with the axes inherited by the site. The interior detailing is meant to further the compositional unity, with a dialog of components connecting spaces without impeding their individuality. The interior spaces follow a broad European aesthetic including carefully selected saturated colors balanced with quiet neutrals and highlighted by limestone fireplace surrounds, minimal patterns and a mix of metals and natural stones.
